San Fran Lady Sets New Track Record

Former New Zealand mare San Fran Lady smashed the track record at Parklands on the Gold Coast last Friday night.

The Live Or Die mare set a new mark of 1;53.0 which easily eclipsed the previous mark of 1;53.5 held by former Grand Circuit star Double Identity who set the mark on October 14, 2005 when successful in the Gr.2 $75,000 Gold Coast Cup defeating the likes of Be Good Johnny, Jagged Account and Slipnslide among others.

San Fran Lady recorded sectionals of 28.0, 29.3, 28.6 and 27.1 winning by 28 ½ metres.

Coming off an impressive Albion Park trial victory four days earlier in 1;55.4, San Fran Lady started a clear favourite at $1.60 in the C4 or better but no better than M1 for horses that have not won more than $1500 at their last three starts.

Now prepared by in-form trainer David Bond and driven by Kelli Dawson, San Fran Lady was resuming since September 17 when unplaced at Newcastle behind Weasel.

Bond has enjoyed good success in recent times with ex-Newcastle trained pacers like Sir Bobby Lashley, Clear Polish and Wrotham Park while Boston Legal has also been a regular winner.

The victory of San Fran Lady was her first since proving successful at Newcastle on November 18, 2011.

San Fran Lady is now the winner of 12 races from 56 lifetime starts with earnings approaching $80,000.
